Orascom is an Egyptian business group. It holds a portfolio of business activities ranging from contracting to railways and navigation services to manufacturing, and also maintains significant holdings in telecommunications, information technology, and networking. It has recently acquired a contract to establish telecommunication service in post-war iraq. Inspite of other famous and more influential competitors orascom got this project which in itself is evidence of political rigging.

Orascom was founded in 1950 by Onsi Sawiris. It has invested capital over $ 3 billion and an annual revenue over $ 1 billion. Its subsidiaries have been convicted for malpractices, money laundering and unethical practices in countries they operate. Following are its telecom operations:

Mobilink was fined 60 million for poor quality of service and rude behavior of employees to customers. Mobilink is also the first cellular service in pakistan and in it early days they were alleged to have sold sims at prices over the stated prices. Company has been protested against for its lack of care for its customers and environment.
